Martin The Warrior was the first Redwall book that I read. I love that book, but I can’t bring myself to read it again because the ending made me cry. Throughout the story of Martin, I connected to Rose. Rose was a beast with great personality and character who stood by Martin in his wish to be rid of Badrang and his horde and fortress. I am sure Martin would have married Rose if she hadn’t been killed. When she was killed I grieved deeply for her, and for Martin because he was as shattered by her death as I was.
